The chocolate:

The Queen of Esmeraldas, Ecuador - 100 percent pure. This delicate, full-bodied chocolate pampers with a slow melting and seduces with aromas of tobacco, raisins and a hint of licorice. The long aftertaste crowns this truly magnificent dark beauty. A balanced 100% composition.

Similar to the collaboration with the "Asociación Wiñak", there is also a partnership with the "Unión de Asociaciones Artesanales Eloy Alfaro de Esmeraldas" in the central north of Ecuador. Located in the upper left corner of the country, this province is known for its population of African descent, which is said to be due to the sinking of a slave ship off the coast.

The cocoa from this region is remarkably balanced and has a fat content of 7%. Thanks to its balanced flavor profile, there are many high-quality chocolates with a higher cocoa content. This chocolate is not bitter but reveals a perfect taste.

Eloy Alfaro was awarded the "Aromas del Ecuador" prize in 2013 for her cocoa mass, the precursor to chocolate, also known as cocoa liquor.

Founded in 2012 by Maria Fernanda Andrade and Luis Manuel Leon, the chocolate company is proud of its values and its jungle-themed cocoa. And not only Maria and Luis are convinced of their products: In the first year of their existence they were awarded the "Best Chocolate in Ecuador" award by the Salon del Cacao y Chocolate Ecuatoriano - the most important award for chocolate manufacturers in Ecuador.
In addition to their sophisticated production technology, the high quality of the cocoa is of great importance. This is harvested directly from the jungle, parts of which include the Unesco Sumaco Biosphere. The cocoa Nión de Asociaciones Artesanales Eloy Alfaro de Esmeraldas is further processed for higher-proof chocolates.

Ecuador

Cocoa production: Cocoa cultivation: 100,000 families Cultivation regions: Guayas, Los Ríos, Manabi, Esmeraldas Ecuadors, Guayaquil became the world's first cocoa port after the export ban was lifted and the era of the Ecuadorian cocoa monopoly began. The cocoa trade prospered until the 1920s, when a disease spoiled the cocoa crop and the effects of the stock market crash brought the cocoa industry to its knees and devastated it. It was only decades later that the government managed to promote cocoa production through subsidies. This was mainly due to the predominant stock of fine flavor cocoa Nacional Arriba. The perfect mix of climate, terrain and equatorial location give Ecuadorian cocoa beans their special flavors.
